I am recruiting talented candidates to join me at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Cities Institute, and undertake PhD research under my supervision. Successful candidates will be formally enrolled at UNSW's School of Built Environment, a diverse, vibrant and welcoming school, and leader in the field both nationally and internationally.
Your research project must sit broadly within the fields of settler-colonial and/or carceral urbanism; however, this may include a wide range of topics and geographical interests. You can read more about my work here.
Location: UNSW Kensington, Sydney
To be successful you would have: Either an Honours or Master's (by research) degree in human geography, urban studies, or town planning (or cogent fields in the social sciences).An outstanding academic track record.Experience undertaking research with guidance and supervision, individually or in a team (including, for instance, as a research assistant).Prior research publications in reputable (Q1 or equivalent) journals are highly desired given the competitive nature of the application process for UNSW. You are unlikely to be granted a scholarship without such a publication.I welcome applications from all backgrounds, both domestic and international. However, a demonstrated, high-level English written and spoken expression is a requirement.
Remuneration: In addition to the UNSW scholarship (if awarded), I offer funding support of $3000 per year (for three years), to be used for conferences and travel, or other research activities. Additional opportunities for teaching and research assistantship may be available to successful candidates.
