We are currently seeking a part time (30.40hrs per week) Child Wellbeing Practitioner to join our dynamic team at The Orange Door (TOD) based in our Wangaratta office. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine impact in the lives of children, young people, and families experiencing family violence and/or requiring support with care, development, and wellbeing needs.
About the Role
As a Child Wellbeing Practitioner, you will work within a multi-disciplinary team delivering high-quality, child-centred, and trauma-informed services. The role supports families through early intervention, screening, triage, assessment, and planning processes to ensure child safety and promote wellbeing.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing specialist support and assessment to infants, children, and families experiencing or at risk of family violence
* Working across teams, including Assessment & Planning, Screening, Identification & Triage, or Hybrid Teams
* Collaborating with professionals across the TOD network and broader UMFC service system
* Applying culturally safe and inclusive practices, particularly in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families
* Conducting comprehensive child and family assessments, well-being assessments, and risk assessments
* Maintaining meticulous case records, ensuring compliance with legislative and policy requirements
About You
We’re looking for a passionate and experienced practitioner who brings compassion, cultural awareness, and clinical insight to the role. You’ll be a confident team player who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Selection Criteria includes the below:
* A Bachelor of Social Work or an equivalent qualification that aligns with the Mandatory Minimum Qualification Requirements for Specialist Family Violence Workers (Recommendation 209)
* Proven experience in family violence risk assessment and management, aligned with the MARAM Framework
* Expertise in screening, triage, assessment, and planning, with strong risk management capability
* Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
* Excellent administrative and documentation skills, including detailed case notes and file management
* Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005, Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005, and Child Safe Standards
* Applied knowledge of child development, trauma, attachment theory, and their relevance in working with vulnerable families
* Demonstrated capability in delivering information, consultation, referrals, and assessments within a multidisciplinary context
* Understanding of the drivers of family violence and vulnerabilities, with a strong grasp of the social services sector and best-practice models
