About PYMHWS Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) is Victoria's newest public mental health service dedicated to supporting young people aged 12-25 experiencing complex mental health challenges.

Opportunity As the Coordinator of Medical Training (CoT) - Consultant Psychiatrist, you will lead the oversight, coordination, and continuous improvement of psychiatric training, medical education, and trainee wellbeing across PYMHWS.

Responsibilities

Provide supervisory accreditation support for fellows and non-fellows and develop supervisor orientation modules.

Assist in creating new training posts and preparing RANZCP accreditation documentation.

Hold bi-annual training meetings with registrars to set goals and monitor trainee progress.

Manage trainee variations, including applications for breaks in training and part-time arrangements.

Develop and oversee Targeted Learning Plans (TLP) for trainees needing additional support.

Liaise with trainees, supervisors, and partner services to address wellbeing matters.

Coordinate regular educational activities such as journal clubs, case presentations, and grand rounds.

Supervise psychiatry registrars and contribute to the medical education and training program.

Participate in the on-call roster (5-6 weeks per calendar year) and assist in patient care when required.

Maintain compliance with RANZCP training and accreditation requirements.

Qualifications Formal Qualifications:

Registered medical practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent.

Essential:

Comprehensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of psychiatry, with substantial experience working with young people (12-25 years) with mental disorders.

Demonstrated leadership and management skills.

Proficiency in multidisciplinary teamwork and building relationships with consumers and carers.

Aptitude for service development.

Knowledge of the Victorian Mental Health Wellbeing Act 2022.

Capacity to collaborate with community services such as alcohol and drug agencies, employment and housing services, and mental health support services.

Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication, problem-solving and negotiation skills.

Self-motivation and ability to work autonomously.

Desirable:

Willingness to work from a community-based site and across multiple sites if required.

Experience in teaching and research involvement.

Current Victorian driver's licence.

Knowledge of relevant mental health guidelines, plans and strategies (e.g. Victorian Mental Health Reform Strategy, National Standards for Mental Health Services).
