Council mechanic required to start as soon as possible

Hays are currently seeking a skilled and reliable Council Mechanic to join a local government workshop team in the eastern suburbs. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a well-maintained fleet and support a lead mechanic who is transitioning away from hands-on duties.
Your new role
* Perform maintenance and repairs on a fleet of light commercial vehicles and small plant equipment, including:
Sweeper trucks and bodies, compactor bodies, whipper snippers and similar equipment
* Diagnose mechanical issues and carry out preventative servicing
* Maintain accurate service records and ensure compliance with safety standards
* Collaborate with the lead mechanic and workshop team to ensure smooth operations
What you'll need to succeed
* Proven experience as a mechanic, ideally with light commercial and small plant equipment
* Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Good communication and organisational skills

Working Hours: 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM
