Primary objective
To provide administrative, graphic design, digital and data support to staff and families. The role is central to enabling distance
education in a busy and demanding school environment, with a strong focus on interpersonal communication and supporting
users remotely.
Context statement
Katherine School of the Air is a distance education school with a student population of 300 students – Preschool to Year 9.
The school strives for excellence using innovations in technologies and online teaching pedagogies to enhance outcomes.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide high-quality customer support to families, staff and tutors guiding users over the phone and online, ensuring
clear, empathetic, and effective communication tailored to individual capability level.
2. Perform a wide range of administrative tasks with a high level of accuracy and efficiency, including data entry,
documentation, scheduling, and supporting the Digital and Data Manager in day-to-day operations.
3. Assist with technology related services such as basic hardware setup, software installation and user access management,
with the understanding that technical skills can be developed on the job.
4. Use graphic and media design elements across a variety of publications, print, digital and promotional materials including
interactive and multimedia formats.
5. Travel to remote home classrooms when required to provide hands-on support.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills and customer service with the ability to communicate effectively and
empathetically with staff, students, families, and the wider community. Proven ability to guide client support sessions
over the phone and online.
2. High level organizational and administrative skills, including a demonstrated capacity to work autonomously and within a
team, under pressure whilst maintaining data integrity, and monitoring projects to deliver outcomes in a timely and
efficient manner.
3. Demonstrated experience with digital technology and design software, including Microsoft Office, databases, Microsoft
Teams, Adobe Creative Cloud (or equivalent), or a willingness and ability to learn specific digital skills in a timely manner.
4. Ability to manage assets and proven digital knowledge, with a focus on supporting users.
5. Demonstrated ability to produce media and graphic design material for digital and print solutions and the ability to think
creatively following a design brief and using style guides.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of and experience in the delivery of digital, data or administration within an education setting.
