As we continue to expand, we are looking for a motivated and experienced Site Foreman / Leading Hand Carpenter to join our team and help manage our residential construction projects.
Role Overview:
As the Site Foreman / Leading Hand Carpenter, you will play a key role in overseeing the day-to-day operations on-site, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will be leading a team of carpenters and other tradespeople, providing guidance and support, and liaising directly with project managers and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee and manage the daily operations of the construction site
* Lead and coordinate a team of carpenters and subcontractors
* Ensure all work is completed according to plans, specifications, and safety standards
* Read and interpret building plans and blueprints
* Assist in the preparation of material orders and site logistics
* Conduct site inductions and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
* Ensure the site is well-maintained and organized
* Report progress to the Project Manager and provide feedback on any issues or delays
* Perform hands-on carpentry work when required
Skills and Qualifications:
* Proven experience as a Carpenter with significant time spent in residential construction (12 years minimum)
* Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role (Foreman or Leading Hand)
* Strong knowledge of building codes, safety standards, and construction processes
* Ability to read and interpret building plans and technical drawings
* Excellent leadership and communication skills
* Ability to problem-solve and adapt to changing site conditions
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
* White Card and relevant licenses
* Own tools and transport preferred
