The Role
FCQ is seeking a Gambling Project Officer to lead the delivery of a key project
focused on reducing gambling harm across Queensland.
This is a diverse, hands-on role that combines project design, training, membership
services, stakeholder engagement and events coordination. Reporting to the
Systems and Operations Manager, you will work closely with FCQ staff, members and
external stakeholders to strengthen sector capability and improve outcomes for the
community.

About FCQ
FCQ is the peak body and professional association for financial counsellors in Queensland. We provide resources and support to financial counsellors and their agencies who assist vulnerable Queenslanders experiencing financial difficulty. We work with government, banks, utilities, debt collection and other stakeholders to improve approaches for people experiencing financial difficulty.
Key duties and responsibilities
Project Development and Advocacy Responsibilities to Reduce Gambling Harm
· Continued design and development of the gambling project in conjunction with funding bodies and FCQ Management to ensure service delivery is aligned with legislative requirements, with a key focus on reducing gambling harm in Queensland.
· Liaise with Government and industry to identify and monitor financial hardship issues and policies affecting Queenslanders, i.e. policy development, emerging trends, impacts of changes to legislation or market pricing / practice.
· Work in collaboration with the Systems and Operations Manager to manage publicity and media activities. This includes handling event enquiries and promotional work.
· Contribute to key advertising, communication, sponsorship and media activities.
· Provide updates to social media activities.
· Populate and report to relevant databases, including media contacts.
· Co-maintain the production of a range of publications including FCQ newsletters and FCQ's annual report.
Other duties and responsibilities
Membership and Professional Development
· Coordination of the Queensland (QLD) financial counselling and resilience sector quality and accreditation standards.
· Management of FCQ member administration duties and membership services, both day-today activity, membership renewal activity and membership registry.
· Participate in the workforce development plan to address emerging areas of financial counselling work, with a focus on the gambling project and professional supervision. Additional support may include working with individuals impacted by family violence, economic abuse and disaster relief.
· To be responsible for the training of new staff in the financial literacy and resilience programs.
· Monitoring and upgrading FCQ financial counselling and capability services on the ASIC Money Smart website and the FCQ website.
Training Responsibilities
· Delivering professional development training to the financial counselling and resilience sector.
· Create opportunities to access professional supervision for members, including sector training needs analysis and training pathways planning.
· Assisting with the distribution, communication and correspondence of the professional development training for FCQ members.
· Oversee the administration associated with the scheduling and preparation of FCQ training and development programs.
· Evaluation of current training programs and design content to enhance service delivery.
· Liaise with other member networks and communities of practice.
· Develop training and educational materials for staff including visual aids, multimedia tools and training resources.
· Prepare reports and provide insights on FCQ's membership data and statistics for the SOM.
· Build the networking strategies for students by offering case support and technical support for gambling clients including complaint handling.
Events Management
· Co-coordination of FCQ's conference. This includes sector and industry networking and facilitating conference activities.
· Liaise with key event partners and key stakeholders to build positive working relationships.
· Identify and manage suppliers of marketing materials, catering, and other events management logistics.
· Co-manage events personnel including FCQ staff, volunteers and contractors during an event where required.
· Identify and evaluate suitable events/expos to enable exposure.
· Co-develop annual events plans and calendar.
