What you’ll be doing
* Assess a diverse range of moderately complex to significant planning applications ensuring high-quality and compliant development outcomes.
* Provide clear, reliable advice on planning legislation, policies and processes to internal stakeholders, developers and the community.
* Lead negotiations with developers and stakeholders to achieve practical, compliant and well-informed planning outcomes.
* Contribute to planning projects, policy reviews and process improvements that enhance service delivery and customer experience.
* Mentor and support team members, building capability and sharing knowledge across complex planning matters.
* Represent Council in formal settings (including tribunals and mediation) and prepare high-quality reports to support decision-making.
What you’ll bring
* A relevant tertiary qualification and at least 3 years’ experience in a planning role.
* Strong knowledge of planning legislation and policy, with the ability to provide clear, practical advice on complex matters.
* Well-developed communication and negotiation skills, with a proven ability to build effective relationships and influence outcomes.
* Experience mentoring others, alongside a collaborative, team-focused approach.
* A proactive, resilient mindset, high attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
* Confidence using digital systems and data to support efficient, high-quality service delivery.
