What the role is
We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Trainee Soil Technician to join our Townsville laboratory team. This is a hands‑on practical role that takes you outdoors on construction sites and into our laboratory.
In this role, you’ll learn how to:
- Conduct geotechnical soil testing in the laboratory and on site;
- Accurately document results and follow Australian testing methods;
- Work alongside experienced technicians and engineers;
- Support critical infrastructure projects across the Townsville region.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys physical, practical work, is dependable, and loves learning by doing. No prior experience is needed, just a good attitude and a willingness to follow procedures with care.
About you
You’ll thrive in this role if you:
- Possess a strong sense of initiative, flexibility and enthusiasm;
- Enjoy practical, hands‑on work (you might get a bit dirty – we play with soil!);
- Have a strong work ethic and take pride in doing things the right way;
- Can follow instructions and procedures accurately;
- Are safety‑conscious, honest and work well with others;
- Hold a current Australian manual driver’s licence;
- Hold a White Card and Nuclear Gauge licence—highly regarded, but can be organised once employed.
