The Legal Officer will play a key role in ensuring the company's contracts and operations comply with relevant laws and regulations. This involves reviewing and preparing contracts, collaborating with the CFO to strike a balance between legal and commercial considerations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of contract management principles and be able to provide general legal advice. They will also oversee advice from external lawyers on key issues such as corporate governance, commercial matters, property, and other ad hoc concerns.
A background in risk management is highly desirable, as is experience in maintaining a straightforward yet effective governance and compliance program through documented policies, staff education, and continuous monitoring of internal controls.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and review contracts for the company
* Collaborate with the CFO to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
* Provide general legal advice and oversee advice from external lawyers
* Maintain a governance and compliance program through documented policies and procedures
Requirements:
* Tertiary qualification in law
* At least 3 years of experience in a legal role, preferably in commercial law
* Strong knowledge of legal requirements and controls, including Anti-Money Laundering, Modern Slavery, and Privacy
* Familiarity with industry practices and professional standards
* Experience in risk management is highly desirable
