0.7 FTE Part-time, Ongoing position at HEW Level 5.
Hawkesbury campus with flexible working arrangements.
Salary: $58,867.20 to $66,572.10 per annum, plus 17% Super and Leave Loading.
Deliver technical expertise that keeps practical science teaching safe, compliant and running smoothly.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Technical Support Officer to assist providing technical support for teaching and research activities from our Richmond campus.

Specialising in setting up and cleaning down for both laboratories and fieldwork, your support will be crucial to ensuring equipment and materials are ready for classes and research projects. You'll also provide technical assistance to staff and students, demonstrating safe and effective usage of specialised equipment.

Our ideal candidate will be someone who is self-sufficient but team-oriented and who appreciates the nuanced understanding required for effective teaching and research support.

Please note that success in this role requires a boat license or willingness to obtain one immediately.

What Success Looks Like:

Preparing practical teaching spaces including materials and equipment for undergraduate practicals.
Maintain compliance for regulated facilities including quarantine laboratories, animal facilities, insectary and physical containment.
Assist researchers and HDR students particularly in non-teaching periods.
Maintaining, operating and calibrating complex equipment.
Develop Standard Operating Procedures for relevant equipment and processes - ensuring that they are up to date and the standard maintained.
Actively contribute to identifying and recommending areas of improvement through Continuous Improvement or Kaizen programs.

About You

Degree in Environmental Science or Animal Science or equivalent.
Experience setting up and cleaning down laboratories and research sites.
Team first attitude with ability to work independently.
Proactive problem solving with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
A current WWCC is required for success in this role.
