Join the University of Melbourne's Equine Centre as a Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor in Equine. This pivotal role you'll assume shared responsibility for the day-to-day assessment and management of equine surgical patients both in the hospital and through ambulatory services. You'll work closely with the equine team to ensure high‑quality patient and client services while contributing to the growth of the clinical caseload. Additionally you'll play a key role in the education of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) students delivering lectures, practicals and clinical rotations and supervising student research projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Clinical Services: Assess and manage equine surgical in‑patients and out‑patients including emergency admissions and after‑hours care.
* Teaching and Learning: Contribute to the clinical and pre‑clinical education of DVM students through lectures, practicals, student assessments and curriculum development.
* Leadership and Service: Provide leadership in equine surgery fostering excellence in clinical service and education and engaging with professional activities and outreach.
* Research and Scholarship: Engage in research and scholarly activities related to equine surgery and veterinary education.
* Strategic Development: Contribute to the strategic development of clinical teaching and research outcomes at the Equine Centre.
Qualifications & Requirements
* You are an experienced equine surgeon with a passion for education and a commitment to delivering exceptional clinical services and shaping the future of equine veterinary surgery.
* Hold a veterinary degree registrable in Victoria and postgraduate training or specialist qualifications in Equine Surgery.
* Possess strong clinical expertise and experience in equine surgical practice and patient management.
* Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively teach and mentor students.
* Exhibit leadership qualities and the ability to contribute to strategic initiatives and capacity building within the team.
* Have a proven track record of research or scholarship in equine surgery or veterinary education.
* Be committed to continuous improvement, innovation and community engagement.
