The aim of this 3- year project is to close the gap in cancer related health outcomes for First Nations People in rural northern Victoria, through the development and implementation of co-designed optimal care pathways. This project coordinator role will work closely with a Project Coordinator at Aldara-Yenara Aboriginal Co-oporation (AYAC) throughout the term of the initiative.An established partnership between Kyabram and District Health Services (KDHS) and AYAC already exists. The KDHS Aboriginal Health Liaison Officer (AHLO) resides in AYAC building, which is located on KDHS grounds. Together, Cultural Awareness and Safety Training (titled – Leading the Way training) has been delivered by AYAC staff to KDHS staff over the last 2 years, including face-to-face and online training modules.This project aims to address significant health disparities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, through enhanced cultural safety, prevention and early detection.
