Excellent opportunity for a Financial Control Manager to join our client, working in Queensland's renewable energy and electricity generation sector.

We are currently partnering with one of our clients to appoint a Financial Control Manager based in Brisbane.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the organisation's finance and accounting operations, including management and financial accounting, tax and treasury accounting, settlements, revenue management, reconciliations, accounts and payroll.
The Financial Control Manager will ensure that financial reporting, budget consolidation, cash flow management and taxation reporting are delivered accurately, on time, and in compliance with all relevant statutory requirements and accounting standards.
This role will also drive the performance and ongoing development of the financial control function, including policies, procedures and processes, while contributing to the continuous improvement of the organisation's ERP systems. The successful candidate will lead a multi-functional Financial Control team, providing guidance, mentoring and professional development.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the organisation's financial controls strategy in alignment with risk and compliance frameworks
* Manage financial control policies, procedures and systems
* Oversee the preparation of financial statements and year-end audits
* Foster a learning environment and development opportunities within the finance team
* Build strong networks across the organisation, collaborating across functions and locations
Compliance & Reporting
* Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and financial regulations
* Develop reporting methodologies, cycles and tools to support business performance
* Produce financial performance reports for senior leadership and key stakeholders
* Analyse business performance and profitability against budgets and forecasts
* Manage tax and accounting compliance obligations
Stakeholder Engagement & Team Leadership
* Collaborate closely with senior stakeholders across the business including leadership, commercial teams, finance and strategy, and legal/governance functions
* Build relationships with external advisors, partners and industry bodies
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial management practices and energy market developments
* Provide leadership, mentoring and development to members of the Financial Control team
* Support team members through goal setting, feedback and performance reviews
Education & Qualifications
* Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline
* CA or CPA qualification
Experience & Skills
* Strong leadership and team development capabilities
* Excellent financial, technical and analytical skills
* Solid understanding of Australian Accounting Standards
* Understanding of energy market trading, particularly back- and middle-office functions, is highly regarded
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Demonstrated experience managing stakeholder relationships
* Industry experience within resources, infrastructure, utilities or energy sectors is highly desirable
