About the area

The School of Human Sciences is a large multi-disciplinary School that makes a significant contribution to teaching and research in the Physiology discipline. The School is ranked 30th in the world in the subject area of 'Anatomy and Physiology' (QS).

Core units within the Physiology major cover the fundamentals of various biological systems (e.g., nervous, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, reproductive and gastrointestinal) and cellular function, as well as more applied science ‐ exercise physiology, concepts of clinical and nutritional physiology, experimental methodology, and environmental physiology. Physiology teaching also extends to other majors within the School, including Neuroscience, Exercise and Health, and Sports Science, and into other Schools that facilitate the education of pre‐clinical students.

Research within the School spans molecular science, biological modelling, pre‐clinical and clinical research and community‐based interventions. Following completion of their major, students often embark on a one‐year Honours degree, which helps seed a large postgraduate research program, with ~100 research students. The breadth of research and researchers can be explored further on our webpage. https://www.uwa.edu.au/schools/human‐sciences
