The primary role of this position is to ensure the development and implementation of comprehensive safety management systems across multiple mine sites. This includes the creation and maintenance of risk management tools, such as critical risk and principal mining hazard management, leading risk mitigation and reporting processes, and management of change.
In addition to developing and implementing safety management systems, the ideal candidate will have experience in health, hygiene, medical, emergency, and security response coordination. They will also have a proven ability to lead and develop investigative teams and apply root cause analysis to prevent the recurrence of unwanted events.
This role requires strategic planning and the development of tactical plans to implement and measure improvement opportunities. The successful candidate will also have experience in managing departmental costs and budgeting, identifying areas for cost improvement, and ensuring the development and implementation of action plans to achieve these gains.
High level understanding of all relevant legislation and associated standards affecting the health and safety of persons in the mining industry in WA is essential. Construction experience and knowledge of commissioning new plant and facilities are highly desirable.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills are required to work closely with various stakeholders, including employees, contractors, and regulatory bodies.

Job Description
This role involves ensuring safe work practices and processes are available across the mine sites, driving desired behaviours for all personnel, including contractors, through safety leadership, the implementation and management of health, safety, environmental compliance, and the delivery of injury and loss prevention strategies.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
* Ensuring Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, with a specific focus on the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and Regulations 2022.
* Risk Management: Develop and implement comprehensive risk management systems, including the creation and maintenance of risk management tools.
* Health and Safety Leadership: Drive desired behaviours for all personnel through safety leadership and the implementation of health and safety initiatives.
* Environmental Management: Operate in accordance with the Company's Environment Policy and procedures, displaying a clear commitment to responsible environmental management in compliance with approvals, licenses, and other regulatory requirements.
* Training and Development: Manage and promote the site training management system in alignment with Company training management processes.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in HSSET disciplines in the resources industry, including open pit, underground, and processing operations. They will possess a high level understanding of all relevant legislation and associated standards affecting the health and safety of persons in the mining industry in WA.

* Recognised Tertiary Qualifications: Recognised tertiary qualifications in health, safety, risk, or related discipline.
* Lead Auditor Qualifications: Lead Auditor Qualifications (desirable).
* Risk Management Processes: Recognised qualifications in risk management processes and risk analysis, for example, ICAM or bowtie.
