About The Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Officer is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, repair and presentation of village buildings and common areas. This is a hands-on role requiring initiative, attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving maintenance issues.
You will play a key role in ensuring the safety, functionality and overall presentation of the community while building positive working relationships with residents and team members.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance across buildings, common areas and plant/equipment
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and urgent repair needs
Complete minor repairs including carpentry, painting, plumbing and general handyman tasks
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities
Monitor and manage maintenance supplies and equipment
Coordinate contractors where required and oversee quality of work
Uphold workplace health and safety standards
Engage professionally with residents and team members
What We're Looking For
Demonstrated experience in general maintenance, facilities or handyman roles
Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
Practical problem-solving skills and a solutions-focused mindset
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Good physical capability, including lifting and manual handling
Clear communication skills and a customer service approach
Current driver's licence
Willingness to complete a Police Check
Desirable
Experience in retirement living, residential property or facility maintenance
Trade qualification or relevant certification
