Primary objective
Provide advice and executive support to Student Wellbeing and Inclusion Programs and Services for the governance, development and
implementation of agency strategy, governance, policies and projects including high level stakeholder management and communications,
reporting and executive secretariat functions.
Context statement
Student Wellbeing and Inclusion Programs and Services (SWIPS) is part of Inclusion and Engagement Services, which provides
differentiated support services to reform inclusion and improve engagement and access to learning for children, students and communities.
SWIPS provides advice, guidance and support to clients and stakeholders to ensure all children and students are welcomed into an inclusive
learning environment and are able to engage effectively with education and learn to their full potential.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Support SWIPS strategic initiatives arising from Cabinet, ensure their alignment to outcomes through evaluation practices, and
provide progress reporting as required.
2. Coordinate, research and prepare high level briefs, submissions, reports and correspondence to enable to Minister, SWIPS executive
and senior leaders to carry out their functions effectively.
3. Liaise effectively and professionally with internal staff at all levels within the department, as well as external stakeholders, ensuring
appropriate information access, management and use.
4. Deliver expert advice and executive-level support across multiple complex projects, encompassing governance, strategic
development, implementation, and performance evaluation.
5. Coordinate information collation, analysis and reporting of program and performance information, ensuring accuracy, and reliability
and timely delivery.
6. Contribute to continuous improvement in the quality and timeliness of briefings, correspondence, and secretariat practices through
departmental capability development and streamlined information management.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated high level written communication with experience preparing high level executive documentation, including briefings,
submissions, presentations of a range of complex and detailed report, and other correspondence to support senior leadership and
stakeholder engagement.
1. Demonstrated experience in project management, analysis and reporting, including the ability to investigate, manage, and report on
complex issues, evaluate outcomes, and recommend evidence-based strategies.
1. Proven strength in organisational planning, with strategic, conceptual and analytical capabilities and ability to manage own
performance and adapt flexibility to shifting priorities in a dynamic leadership environment.
1. Demonstrated ability to work independently to a high standard, problem solve and to provide effective leadership within a team to
lead and manage a variety of strategic tasks in a complex environment and meet deadlines within time constraints
1. Demonstrated high level ability to build and sustain strategic relationships with executives, key stakeholders, including people from
diverse cultures and while exhibiting agility in responding to changes to evolving executive/stakeholders priorities and expectations.
Desirable
1. Bachelor level or post-graduate qualification in a relevant discipline.
2. Contemporary knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
3. Knowledge and understanding of government and departmental processes including preparing high level reports, discussion papers
and correspondence including Ministerial and executive briefings.
