About the role
The UNE Discovery Voyager program develops and facilitates STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Maths) play-based, interactive activities, which are delivered in schools and other educational settings to students from K-Yr10 in regional NSW.
The Discovery Voyager Senior Science Educator will work closely with the UNE Discovery Voyager Team Leader and will actively participate in developing, facilitating and delivering STEAM activities in schools in northern NSW. They will work with team members and UNE academics to develop and coordinate relevant content for these activities.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be degree qualified or have a diploma with relevant work experience, along with strong communication and organisational skills. You will have some experience in education, teaching or student engagement, ideally with primary and secondary students (K-Yr10).
It is essential that you have good time management skills and work effectively in a team environment. A background in science or teaching would be beneficial to successfully contribute to the development of science-related, curriculum-aligned activities for school students, working within established guidelines and frameworks.
About the Program
The UNE Discovery program is a mobile outreach program delivering innovative educational experiences to school-aged students and communities in northern NSW. The program has been operational since 2016 and since that time, the team has taken interactive and play-based learning activities to more than 30,000 students in schools across northern NSW. The program aims to provide transformational and inspiring STEAM experiences to students, increase awareness of the UNE brand and strengthen relationships with primary and secondary schools in northern NSW.
