Primary objective
Lead and manage the Department's Southern Region Transport and Civil Infrastructure (TCI) team. Provide high level advice,
management and coordination in the delivery of all Transport and Civil capital works, minor new works, and repairs and
maintenance programs within the region.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide high level strategic advice to executive management and government on the planning and delivery of the
Southern regions' programs and projects.
1. Provide high level program and project management, to ensure regional and remote initiatives and priorities are achieved.
2. Develop and maintain proactive and collaborative strategic partnerships with Local Government, other government
agencies and stakeholders in the region.
4. Provide high level advice and support on a diverse range of issues, including corporate governance, community
consultation, intra-agency relationships, current key projects and operational responsibility for the Department.
5. Represent the Department on relevant management committees, providing insightful input and feedback to enhance
Department initiatives and contribute to emergency management through the Southern Region Emergency Management
Planning Committee.
1. Oversee the Transport Safety and Services function in the Southern region, ensuring compliance with applicable
legislation and exercising appropriate delegation of authority.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. High level strategic understanding and demonstrated ability to interpret and navigate complex political, social, and
organisational environments at the regional level to address multifaceted issues effectively.
1. High level communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills to effectively influence and engage with diverse groups
and stakeholders, facilitating successful collaboration to achieve outcomes.
3. Outcome focused with a dynamic approach to leadership, focussed on achieving Departmental objectives while inspiring
and developing team members to maximise their potential within the organisation.
1. High level experience preparing ministerial and other high-level correspondence.
2. Proven experience and strong understanding of budget and program management, capital works, minor new works and
repairs and maintenance, and resource allocation and management.
6. Strong understanding of the Northern Territory Government's procurement processes and policy, particularly in a civil
construction environment.
1. Good understanding of Indigenous issues and culture relating to the development of the Northern Territory.
Desirable
1. Degree in Business, Engineering, Project or Construction Management, Government Procurement or similar.
2. Knowledge and experience of Road and Civil industry construction and maintenance techniques and practices.
