In this position based at our head office in Mulgrave, Victoria, you will join a high performing Financial Services Legal team and be primarily responsible for the management of undefended and defended financial services litigation recovery files. It is a fantastic opportunity for a junior lawyer looking to break into a corporate role with the guidance and coaching of an experienced in-house legal team.
Working closely with our Collections and Recoveries teams, this role involves liaising with debtors and internal stakeholders to negotiate payment arrangements and draft settlement deeds, as well as management of litigation debt recovery matters across a number of jurisdictions in Australia and New Zealand.
* Drafting of claims and subsequent interlocutory documents
* Liaising with external counsel and agents, unrepresented and opposing legal representatives
* Payment and negotiation settlements
* Enforcement arrangements
* Compliance with court procedures and rules, trial preparations court appearances
* Identifying and communicating potential/actual legal exposures and proposing proactive and remedial measures
* Reporting on loss recoveries performance data and conducting audits of external law firms
* Providing legal advice to the Collections and Recoveries teams
What you will need to be successful:
To be successful in this role you must have a desire to work in a fast-paced corporate legal environment and be a pro‐active and self‐motivated individual who can confidently work autonomously. Sound time management and organisational skills are essential, along with strong written and verbal communication skills to deliver legal advice to a variety of audiences.
Admission to practice as an Australian Legal Practitioner with a Bachelor of Law degree is essential, with 2‐5 years PQE.
