The City of Karratha is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Strategic Planner to join our dynamic Planning Services team. This is an exciting opportunity for a planning professional who thrives on strategic thinking, innovative problem-solving, and collaborative project delivery.
About the Role
As a Senior Strategic Planner, you will play a key role in the development and implementation of land use strategies, plans, and policies that guide the growth and sustainability of the City. You will provide expert planning advice, assess complex strategic proposals, and contribute to the ongoing review and improvement of our local planning framework.
What You'll Be Doing
* Leading and contributing to the preparation, review, and implementation of strategic planning projects, policies, and schemes.
* Providing high‑quality planning advice to stakeholders, including internal teams, Council, government agencies, community groups, and the public.
* Preparing clear and concise reports and recommendations for Council and other stakeholders.
* Collaborating across departments and contributing to the continuous improvement of planning services.
* Promoting best practice strategic planning that supports sustainable development and community wellbeing.
About You
You're someone who:
* Holds a tertiary qualification in land use planning or a related discipline.
* Has at least 3 years of relevant experience in planning, ideally in a local government or strategic planning environment.
* Understands planning legislation and policy frameworks and can apply them confidently and effectively.
* Communicates clearly and professionally, both in writing and verbally.
* Is organised, detail‑oriented, and able to juggle multiple priorities.
* Works well independently and thrives in a collaborative, team‑based environment.
* Is passionate about regional development and making a lasting impact on a growing city.
