The Role
ABCRadio Canberra is looking for an enthusiastic and capable Radio Producer to join our team on a casual basis.
You'll work as part of a collaborative team producing high-quality radio content that informs, engages and entertains the Canberra community. The role involves shift work, including early mornings and weekends, depending on operational needs, and is based in our Canberra studio.
The Job
* Assist with the end-to-end production of live radio programs, from planning through to broadcast
* Research local stories, issues and talent to develop strong talk segments, interviews and features
* Book guests and contributors, prepare briefs, and ensure presenters are well supported on-air
* Write and update running sheets, segment notes and program material to support smooth live broadcasts
* Operate studio and broadcast systems during live programs, ensuring technical and editorial accuracy
* Support presenters and editorial staff during breaking news and time‐critical coverage
* Work collaboratively with reporters, producers and technical teams to meet daily editorial priorities
About You
You're a confident and organised producer with a passion for audio storytelling and local issues.
You'll have:
* Experience producing or assisting with live radio or audio content
* Strong editorial judgement, research skills and attention to detail
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work calmly under pressure
* An understanding of local issues and stories that reflect the Canberra community
