About the Role Our client, a leading organisation based in the Northern suburbs of Brisbane, is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join their growing finance team. Due to ongoing expansion and increased business activity, this position offers flexibility to work either work on a full-time or part-time basis. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the successful candidate will take ownership of payroll operations across multiple states and ensure ongoing compliance and accuracy. Key Responsibilities Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will manage payroll end-to-end and contribute to process improvement in a supportive and fast-paced environment. Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Processing and reviewing fortnightly payroll for 400 employees across several pay runs Ensuring compliance with Awards and EBAs across various Australian states Administering leave, superannuation, payroll tax, and salary packaging Handling payroll-related queries and providing high-quality internal support Identifying and resolving payroll discrepancies and participating in variance analysis Collaborating with Finance and HR to support audits, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives Skills Required To be successful in this role, you will bring proven payroll experience and a proactive, detail-focused approach to your work. A minimum of 3 years' experience in end-to-end payroll processing Strong working knowledge of EBAs, Awards, and payroll legislation Proficiency in payroll systems and confident navigating multi-jurisdictional compliance High attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative mindset A continuous improvement attitude and the ability to work autonomously How to Apply Sharp & Carter often has a range of payroll and finance roles available that may not be advertised.
