V.I.E. – Construction Project Engineer – Canberra, Australia (F/M)

About the role: This job ad is for a V.I.E. programme. To apply, you must be a European citizen aged 18–28, fluent in English, a graduate, and have no prior V.I.E. or work experience in the host country. The position offers a unique international experience with a leading Australian civil engineering company.
Key Responsibilities
* Project Delivery & Technical Support
o Track and report daily productivity.
o Support cost control, estimating, and programme updates.
o Manage work teams in the field.
* Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ)
o Undertake all HSEQ responsibilities as defined in the Project's Management Plans.
o Escalate any risks affecting safety, timelines, or costs.
o Monitor and ensure construction quality in line with method statements and ITPs.
* Commercial & Procurement Activities
o Verify subcontractor claims and variations.
o Support procurement activities and follow governance and finance processes.
* Compliance, Competency & Continuous Improvement
o Maintain required competencies through regular LMS updates.
o Comply with all SWC policies, procedures, and training.
o Keep knowledge current on legislation, standards, and industry practices.

* You bring an analytical, detail‑oriented mindset and confidence navigating basic contractual procedures and working with stakeholders.
* You're comfortable with the fast pace and direct communication of construction sites, and your can‑do attitude helps you face challenges head‑on.
* You've got strong interpersonal skills, enjoy being part of a team, and are curious and open to adapting and integrating quickly.
* You speak fluent English and feel confident communicating in any context—on site, in meetings, or day‑to‑day—and are excited about the opportunity to live and work in Australia.
* You have your driver's licence and are ready to move between sites if needed.
