The College is a not-for-profit organisation that represents more than 8600 surgeons and 1300 surgical trainees and Specialist International Medical Graduates.RACS also supports healthcare and surgical education in the Asia-Pacific region and is a substantial funder of surgical research.About the roleResearch & Evaluation, incorporating ASERNIP-S (R&E, inc. ASERNIP-S) is the research branch of RACS that conducts health technology assessments (HTA) for national and international policy makers, as well as evaluations conducted for RACS. You will work as part of the ASERNIP-S research team responsible for the completion of nominated HTA and other research projects, producing high quality research reports to facilitate medical decision-making.In this role, your primary objective is to ensure that project teams possess the necessary skills to successfully execute and deliver the assigned HTA projects for various clients. You will provide methodological guidance to research staff, support the project team by addressing technical and methodological queries, resolve technical challenges, and assist the ASERNIP-S Manager in managing project timelines and resources. Additionally, you will monitor the team’s technical capabilities, identifying any skill gaps in their ability to perform the required HTA work. In collaboration with the ASERNIP-S Manager, you will be responsible for identifying training and professional development opportunities to ensure that ASERNIP-S research staff are equipped with the necessary skills and tools to deliver project work effectively.Skill and experience• Ability to understand and apply systematic review techniques and relevant research principles for evaluating clinical evidence• Ability to understand and apply epidemiological and biostatistical concepts to be used in clinical data synthesis and interpretation• Excellent literary and report writing skills with high attention to detail and experience in writing structured scientific reports and publications• Experience in mentoring/supervising staff for research projects and addressing technical queries• Experience in leading a program of multiple projects, deadline management and project resourcing• Ability to effectively communicate with, foster and maintain stakeholder relationships• Publication record in peer-reviewed journals• Desirable: some experience in writing grant applications, tenders, business proposals and preparing quotations.This role is an ongoing full time position, based in Kent Town, Adelaide.At our organisation, we are proud to have a positive impact on improving health outcomes in the community.
