About the Role
* This position involves overseeing the technical design, engineering coordination, and execution of solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS), ensuring compliance with local standards and project requirements.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
1. Leading all engineering aspects of utility-scale solar and BESS projects from development through to construction and commissioning.
2. Coordinating with internal teams, external consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
3. Reviewing and approving electrical designs, grid connection studies, and technical specifications.
4. Ensuring compliance with New Zealand and Australian standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
5. Providing technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and project team members.
6. Supporting procurement activities by evaluating technical proposals and vendor capabilities.
7. Conducting site visits to oversee construction progress and resolve technical issues.
Requirements
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
* Minimum 7 years of experience in engineering roles within the renewable energy sector, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial capacity.
* Proven experience in utility-scale solar PV and/or BESS projects.
* Strong understanding of electrical systems, grid integration, and power system studies.
* Familiarity with New Zealand's regulatory and grid connection frameworks is highly desirable.
* Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
* Willingness to travel occasionally to project sites in New Zealand.
