Doomadgee State School is seeking a skilled Mental Health Support Specialist to provide crucial support for students with mild to moderate mental health concerns. As part of Queensland's Wellbeing Workforce, this professional will work closely with students and families to enhance wellbeing and mental health support available to them.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake individual and group counselling and therapeutic interventions with students, parents, and families to help them resolve personal or relationship issues.
* Provide expert advice on diagnoses provided by external professionals and monitor students' progress.
* Administer specialized psycho-educational assessments of students with learning and/or adjustment difficulties, including evaluations of cognitive, academic, behavioural, emotional, social, and adaptive functioning.
* Coordinate or assist in the implementation of professional training programs for teachers, parents, schools, and other professionals, focusing on supporting students' mental health and wellbeing.
* Identify needs and facilitate referrals and planning of services for children, parents, and families to community agencies such as health and welfare organizations.
* Support school communities in responding to critical incidents and emergencies as part of the school response team.
