Position Overview
The Department of Laboratory Medicine, Pathology and Medical Genetics of Island Health is seeking a Medical Biochemist or Clinical Chemist for a full-time position based in Victoria, BC.
The Medical Biochemistry Laboratory Service in Island Health includes a network of hospital-based laboratories, serving over 750,000 residents with core labs and services in special chemistry, endocrinology, immunology, toxicology, and therapeutic drug monitoring. The successful candidate will join a team providing diagnostic oversight, participating in routine and specialized chemistry services, teaching, committee work, administrative tasks, and clinical consultations.
Desired Experience and Skills
* Expertise in Medical Biochemistry, with leadership in quality assurance and utilization management
* Experience in dynamic testing and clinical mass spectrometry is highly desirable
* Interest in data analytics and IT clinical decision support
Additional Requirements
* Travel to various sites for in-service and staff support
* Participation in provincial laboratory committees and planning
* Potential faculty appointment and research opportunities at the University of British Columbia's Island Medical Program
Candidate Qualifications
Must hold:
* Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada specialty certification in Medical Biochemistry or General Pathology, and full unrestricted license with CPSBC, OR
* A PhD with certification or eligibility for certification in Clinical Chemistry by CACB or ABCC.
