Overview
Join Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort as a Mechanic and put your problem-solving abilities and quick thinking to the test—while maintaining a safety-first mindset—in a dynamic alpine environment. This role offers a diverse range of challenges, from urgent repairs to routine servicing of our fleet, including skidoos, snow clearers, grooming machinery, and other essential vehicles. You won't be confined to a workshop—your work will take you across the mountain, from preventative maintenance in summer to ensuring smooth lift operations in winter as part of the lift leadership team. You will also have the opportunity to get involved in the operation and maintenance of our water and sewage treatment plants as well as our snowmaking systems. With on-mountain staff accommodation and a close-knit team, you'll play a vital role in resort operations and enjoy a lifestyle where others come to escape.
Responsibilities
The role involves a diverse range of tasks including:
* Performing urgent repairs and routine servicing of our fleet (e.g., skidoos, snow clearers, grooming machinery, and other essential vehicles).
* Carrying out preventative maintenance across the mountain to support safe lift operations in winter.
* Participating in the operation and maintenance of water and sewage treatment plants and snowmaking systems.
Qualifications and Experience
* Trade qualifications as a diesel fitter, mechanic, or equivalent knowledge, skills, and experience
* Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role
* Metal fabrication skills or equivalent experience
* Demonstrated leadership skills
* Current heavy rigid vehicle licence
* Previous experience in remote or alpine environments is valued, but not essential
Requirements for the Successful Candidate
* Have full Australian working rights.
* Currently hold or be willing to obtain a Victorian Working with Children Check – Employee type
* Have an Australian drivers licence (VIC preferred)
* Satisfactorily pass a police check and random drug & alcohol tests.
Details
Location: Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort, Victoria
Salary: $79,122 – $87,600 plus super, based on skills and qualifications.
Contract Terms: 12-months fixed term, with the potential to go permanent.
Start Date: Immediate
