Waste Water Services (WWS) is a fully owned subsidiary of Vysarn Limited (ASX:VYS) and delivers turnkey potable water systems, sewage treatment plants, pump stations, chemical dosing systems, fire pump sets, and specialist mechanical–electrical infrastructure across WA. We are seeking an experienced Electrician to join our high-performing team delivering critical projects for the Water Corporation, Rio Tinto, BHP, FMG, and local government utilities.
This role is suited to a technician who enjoys hands-on work, solving real-world engineering problems, and contributing to high-quality installations in the field.
About the Role
Reporting to the Leading Hand – Electrical, the successful candidate will work across:
• 60% remote work (FIFO/DIDO) on mining and regional water infrastructure projects
• 40% Perth-based, including Water Corporation sites and workshop-based builds
You will carry out installation, commissioning, maintenance, and fault-finding on electrical and instrumentation systems associated with water and wastewater treatment plants and industrial pumping applications.
Key Responsibilities
• Install, test, fault-find, and commission electrical systems on potable water plants, sewage treatment plants, pump stations, chemical dosing systems, fire pump sets, and LV/HV washdown systems.
• Complete electrical works on Water Corporation assets in accordance with standards, testing procedures, and governance requirements.
• Install, terminate and test:
* Motors (DOL, VSD, SOFT START)
* Instrumentation (pressure, flow, level, chlorine, turbidity)
* Switchboards, field panels, and control wiring
* Communications and telemetry cabling
• Read and interpret single-line diagrams, P&IDs, loop diagrams, I/O lists, and electrical schematics for installation and troubleshooting.
• Execute plant commissioning functions including loop checks, I/O verification, motor operational checks, and instrument calibration.
• Perform site electrical inspections, test and tag, isolation/LOTO, and hazardous area awareness (if applicable).
• Work collaboratively with mechanical, civil, and process teams during construction and shutdowns.
• Produce accurate electrical documentation including test sheets, commissioning records, redline mark-ups, ITP sign-offs, and close-out reports.
• Support emergency breakdown work and root cause analysis on pumps, MCCs, VSDs, and instrumentation.
Required Experience & Skills
Essential:
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as an industrial electrician, preferably on mining, oil & gas, or water/wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated experience with:
Pump stations and motor control systems
* Water and wastewater treatment plant electricals & commissioning
* Chemical dosing systems and packaged skids
* Fire pump sets and pressure systems
* Managed aquifer recharge abstraction and injection systems
* LV/HV washdown systems
• Strong working knowledge of:
* Electrical protection and fault isolation
* VSD setup, tuning, and troubleshooting
* PLC/SCADA I/O wiring (not programming)
* Instrumentation fundamentals (pressure, flow, level, analytical sensors)
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, control philosophies, and ITPs.
• Competent understanding of:
* Basic process engineering concepts (flow behaviour, pump curves, cavitation risks, surge/water hammer interactions with electrical equipment)
* Mixed mechanical–electrical interfaces on rotating equipment
• Strong safety mindset and demonstrated experience with CRAW, JHA/SWMS, confined space awareness around water assets.
Desirable:
• Hazardous Area certification (EEHA)
• Experience in Water Corporation environments
• Previous commissioning experience on packaged treatment plants
• Familiarity with Siemens, ABB, Schneider, or Allen-Bradley instrumentation
Qualifications
• WA A-Grade Electrical Licence (mandatory)
• CPR/LVR (current)
• Construction White Card
• Confined Space & Working at Heights (advantageous)
• Gas Test Atmospheres (advantageous)
• Valid manual driver’s licence
• Sch 26 (advantageous)
