Overview
Wastewater Maintenance Worker at Townsville City Council. This is a permanent full-time opportunity supporting the Water and Wastewater Team with operation and maintenance services for the Townsville community. This is a labouring role focused on maintenance activities and on-call/off-hours duties as required.
About The Role
This position will assist the Water and Wastewater Team in providing an effective water operation and maintenance service. Responsibilities include:
- Coordinate site access, permits, safety and statutory permissions to perform maintenance activities.
- Conduct activities as required for major maintenance, breakdowns and planned works.
- Assist in maintaining wastewater house drains, gravity mains and pressure mains including clearing blockages; pipe repair and construction; manhole inspections, repair and construction.
- Report, clean and disinfect wastewater spills and overflows to the environment.
This role requires participation in the on-call roster and overtime arrangements as needed to resolve out-of-hours operational issues or emergency works, including disaster management. Immunisation against Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B may be required as provided through Council. The role will operate from the Garbutt Operations Centre.
About You
Our ideal candidate will have:
Mandatory
- Current “MR” class driver’s licence
- Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD)
Desirable
- Confined Space Entry ticket and knowledge of confined space entry procedures
- Current Drainers licence
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Strong community and customer relations skills
- Robust work ethic
