The Rockhampton Grammar School is looking for an outgoing and dedicated Teacher Aide to join the Visual Arts Department in a permanent part-time capacity.

POSITION: Teacher Aide (Visual Arts)
CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time (19 hours/week Mon-Wed) | Term-Time
COMMENCEMENT: 16 January 2026 (unless otherwise negotiated)
PURPOSE OF POSITION
This position will be working alongside a Secondary Teacher to assist Teachers with preparation, classroom duties and efficiently support the needs of the Visual Arts Department.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Cleaning and Organisation of Provisions and Classroom Environment:
The teacher aide is responsible for:
* Keeping the art rooms clean and organised;
* Assisting with cleaning at the end of each lesson and preparing materials at the beginning of each lesson;
* Weekly laundering of towels, classroom paintbrushes and palettes;
* Cleaning and putting away daily and materials that are in heavy use, depending on the unit of work;
* Keeping art room stocks replenished in classrooms and organised in storerooms (including expedient storage of deliveries).
The teacher aide maintains the organisation of the office and office materials, which includes organising stationery and ordering supplies, maintaining pen drawers, and ensuring the sink is clean and tidy.
Assistance in Classrooms:
Assistance is required in the classroom on a regular basis. The teacher aide should be conversant with the teachers' timetables and follow the direction of the Head of Department in terms of class attendance.
Ordering:
The teacher aide is responsible for all ordering for the department including books and resources.
School Displays:
The teacher aide is responsible for the maintenance of student work displays around the School: including the Headmaster's office, the Registrar's office, foyer of the Islay Lee Centre, display cabinet outside the Deputy to the Headmaster's office and the Primary office. These are to be changed on a regular basis each semester.
Valedictory Exhibition:
The Visual Art department exhibits work of Year 12 students for the Valedictory Dinner. The teacher aide would assist in preparing this display.
Budget:
Each year a budget proposal is required to be submitted to the School in order to secure funds for the year ahead. The Head of Department may require assistance from the teacher aide to revise the current year and update the proposal for the coming year.
Stocktake (Annual):
At the end of each year, it is necessary to conduct an annual stock take of equipment for the department. The HOD will issue a document that lists the equipment for the teacher aide to check off prior to a specific date in Term 4.
Filing and Compactus:
The teacher aide is responsible for filing of assessment items in the art room filing cabinets at the end of each term and in the compactus.
Art Trips or Workshops:
The teacher aide may be required to assist in the organisation of art trips for students or workshops that would be held at the School.
REQUIRED LICENCES/CERTIFICATES
* Working with Children Check;
* Police Check;
* Certificate III in Education Support or equivalent previous work experience;
* Safe Food Handling qualifications, desired, but not essential.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

This includes reference checks, identity checks, qualification check and professional registration checks.
