As a Cabler (Data and Telecommunications) at Zaman Telecom Pty Ltd, you will play a hands-on role in installing, maintaining, and repairing internal telecommunications and data cabling systems that form the critical backbone of our clients' networks. Working on a variety of projects across computer networks, telephony, cable television, and security systems, you will ensure seamless connectivity from initial design through to final commissioning. This position is essential to our operations, directly supporting the company's reputation for delivering reliable, high-quality infrastructure that keeps Australia connected safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities: Examine drawings, specifications, and work areas to determine the correct positioning and connections for equipment and cabling to be installed. Install internal telecommunications and data cabling for telephone, radio, pay TV, computer transmission, and related systems.
Join cables and seal sheaths using lead, thermoplastic, and other appropriate materials and techniques. Locate and rectify faults in telecommunications equipment and cabling using diagnostic instruments such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, ammeters, and transmission measuring devices. Attach wires and cables to appliances, distribution frames, cabinets, and other telecommunications equipment.
Adjust, replace, and repair faulty items while testing equipment and systems to ensure compliance with performance standards. Set up and configure data communication systems, local area networks, and wireless networks as required. Adhere to all safety protocols, workplace policies, and quality standards to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
Requirements: Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply. Required qualifications: Diploma in Telecommunications, Data Cabling, or a related field.
Required experience: Minimum 2 years in a similar cabling role. Required technical and interpersonal skills: Proficiency in cable installation, termination, and testing techniques (including fibre optic, copper, and coaxial cables); strong fault-finding and diagnostic abilities using industry-standard tools; sound knowledge of relevant Australian cabling standards and safety regulations; excellent problem-solving and attention to detail; effective communication and teamwork skills; ability to work independently or collaboratively in varied site environments while maintaining a positive, safety-focused attitude.
