Software Test Engineer – Healthcare Systems

About the Role
We are a medical centre operating proprietary healthcare management systems. We require a Software Test Engineer to ensure reliability, security, and compliance of our critical applications.
This is a newly created, full-time and ongoing role that has been established in response to the growing need for robust testing and compliance within our digital clinical systems. The role will play a critical part in maintaining patient data security, system availability, and regulatory compliance. It is aligned with the ANZSCO occupation ICT Systems Test Engineer
Key Responsibilities
Systems Testing & Quality Assurance
* Design and execute comprehensive test plans for web-based healthcare management applications
* Perform functional, integration, security, and performance testing of web applications
* Develop and maintain automated test scripts and testing frameworks
* Conduct regression testing following system updates and patches
* Test data integrity and backup/recovery procedures
Security & Compliance Testing
* Implement and maintain security testing protocols for patient data protection
* Ensure compliance with healthcare data standards and privacy regulations
* Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing
* Test audit trail functionality and reporting mechanisms
* Validate user access controls and authentication systems
Infrastructure & Server Management
* Monitor and test Linux server environments and application performance
* Troubleshoot hardware and software issues affecting system availability
* Test disaster recovery procedures and system redundancy
* Validate server configurations and deployment processes
* Perform capacity planning and load testing
Healthcare System Integration
* Test integration points with Services Australia billing systems
* Validate appointment scheduling and patient management workflows
* Ensure accurate processing of medical billing and Medicare claims
* Test clinical documentation systems and progress note functionality
* Support testing of telehealth and digital health initiatives
Documentation & Reporting
* Maintain comprehensive test documentation and procedures
* Generate detailed test reports and system performance analytics
* Document system configurations and troubleshooting procedures
* Provide technical recommendations for system improvements
Educational Background
* Bachelor's degree or Advanced Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
* Continuous professional development in emerging technologies
Essential Requirements
* Minimum 5 years experience in systems testing and technical support
* Strong experience with Linux server environments
* Proficiency in Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP
* Experience with automated testing tools and security testing
* Understanding of healthcare data standards and privacy requirements
* Hardware diagnostics and server monitoring capabilities
* Excellent analytical and documentation skills
Highly Desirable
* Healthcare background with clinical workflow understanding
* Experience with medical practice management systems
* Knowledge of Australian healthcare billing and Medicare systems
* Certification in software testing (ISTQB) or security frameworks
* Familiarity with healthcare compliance requirements
