About the Role
We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic individual who is passionate about employee well-being and safety. As a trainee work health and safety officer, you will gain hands-on experience across depot, fleet, and driver operations whilst undergoing a Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety. This entry-level role is ideal for someone looking to start a career in Work Health & Safety within the transport industry.
You will work closely with the Compliance Manager to support the implementation and maintenance of our Work Health & Safety Management System, helping to ensure a safe and compliant workplace for all employees.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with the implementation and maintenance of WHS systems across transport and depot operations
* Support hazard identification and risk assessments related to vehicles, drivers, fatigue, manual handling, and traffic management
* Assist with incident, injury, and near-miss reporting and investigations
* Help monitor compliance with WHS legislation, Chain of Responsibility (CoR), and transport safety requirements
* Support driver inductions, safety training, and toolbox talks
* Assist with workplace inspections, audits, and corrective actions
* Maintain WHS records, registers, and documentation
* Promote a positive safety culture across depots and fleet operations
About You
* Strong interest in transport, logistics, or fleet safety
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
* High level of attention to detail
* Ability to work collaboratively and take direction
* Good communication skills, with the ability to engage with drivers and operational staff
* Organised, proactive, and willing to learn
* Competent with basic computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Office)
Desirable (but not essential)
* Basic understanding of WHS legislation, Chain of Responsibility (CoR) and basic fatigue management (BFM)
* Exposure to transport, logistics, or warehousing environments
* Current driver's licence
