About the team
As part of the Property Workplace Facilities and Fleet branch within Business Services, you will lead a dedicated team at the Ashmore Small Plant Workshop. Our team is responsible for the critical maintenance and repair of the City’s diverse fleet, including small plant, vehicles, and miscellaneous equipment. You will collaborate closely with the Supervisor Satellite Workshops and broader Fleet peers to optimise asset lifecycles and identify innovative ways to enhance workshop performance.
About The Role
We are looking for a hands-on leader to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Ashmore facility, supervising a team of trade-qualified mechanics. You will balance technical duties with operational management, ensuring all vehicle servicing and repairs meet high standards of safety, cost-effectiveness, and quality. This is a high-autonomy role where you’ll apply your interpersonal skills to coordinate asset availability with minimal disruption to City operations.
We’re Looking For People Who Have
Trade Qualifications: A Cert III in Outdoor Power Equipment (Mechanical Trade) or equivalent, paired with relevant industry experience.Leadership Capability: Experience managing individuals or small teams to build a collaborative, harmonious, and high-performing workplace.Technical & Operational Expertise: The ability to provide expert advice to tradespeople, manage work orders, and execute business processes like invoice receipting and WH&S record keeping.Planning Skills: A tactical approach to coordinating resources, managing competing priorities, and ensuring tasks are sequenced logically to meet business goals.Commitment to Quality: A focus on adhering to standards and codes of practice while proactively identifying ways to improve workshop systems.Valid Driver’s License: A current 'C' class car license is mandatory.
