About the Compass Institute
The Compass Institute is a South East Queensland charity dedicated to supporting people with intellectual and/or physical disabilities. We provide post-school education, training, and vocational opportunities through innovative programs that promote well-being and independence.
Founded in 2003, we now employ 90 staff and serve over 160 trainees across five locations from Caboolture to Gympie, including social enterprises like Compass Farm, Connections Café, Garden Café, Harvest Kitchen, and Rakes & Panes.

Typical day as a Disability Support Trainer
Supporting trainees in our Gympie and Sunshine Coast centres through:
* Developing and delivering diverse programs in life skills, social activities, crafts, and sports aligned with trainee goals
* Providing personal care, food prep, and behavioral support
* Communicating with families, OT's, and organizational leaders
This role is rewarding as you help young people build confidence and independence.
Requirements
* Experience working with people with disabilities (preferred)
* Background in education or learning delivery (preferred)
* Positive notice from the Department of Communities, Disability Services (Yellow Card), and Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
* Cert III or Cert IV in individual support or similar
* Current First Aid and CPR certificates
* Sign language skills (highly desirable)
* Personal care experience (highly desirable)
* High fitness level required
* Experience with complex needs (preferred)
