Fleet Accounting Specialist | Financial Accountant

You will managing the financial accounting function, including preparation of annual financial statements, delivery of an effective financial accounting function and contributing to effective financial management and governance frameworks.
**About the Role**
- Management of the Financial Accounting System including all ledgers, accounts and registers to ensure adequate processes and internal controls are in place
- Manage and undertake reconciliations of bank accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, payroll, investments and suspense
- Clearing accounts to ensure accurate and timely completion of month end reconciliation and reporting to ensure that any variances are investigated and corrected.
- Prepare a range of ad hoc financial reports for the CFO, Commissioner enabling responses to requests for information and ministerial correspondence.
- Ensure compliance with current accounting standards and practices including relevant statutory requirements.
- Identify, verify and analyse variances of cash flow, debt and liability to enable reporting to the CFO
- Prepare Annual and Statutory Accounts and cooperate with and provide information to internal and external auditors
- Provide a bank account management and donation management service to the organization and Donations Fund, ensuring external reporting is managed in compliance with the ACNC and ATO requirements.
- Manage statistical and other returns (BAS, FBT, GST and the Diesel Fuel Rebate Scheme) enabling to meet taxation and inventory obligations.
- Perform a comprehensive asset and inventory accounting function, including the maintenance of an up to date fixed assets register, attractive items register and annual stock take process facilitating a transparent asset disposal process.
**Skills & Experience**
- CA or CPA
- Fixed asset management and inventory accounting function experience
- General Ledger reconciling
- Excellent communications skills
- Stakeholder engagement skills
- Coupa and SAP knowledge
- 3 - 5 years experience in a similar role, preferably within Government or large infrastructure sector
