The John Hughes Group has been a market leader in the Western Australian automotive industry for over 50 years.
Our Vehicle Transport Department in Welshpool is seeking to appoint a permanent full-time Transport & Logistics Coordinator to support the planning, coordination and oversight of vehicle transport operations across the business.
This role will ideally suit an individual with strong organisational, communication and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
The successful candidate will assist in the planning and implementation of vehicle movements, coordinating the delivery and collection of new, used and customer vehicles across the organisation.
The John Hughes Group operates multiple sales and service locations across the Perth metropolitan area, along with several wholesale yards, making transport coordination a critical part of our daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate and plan truck movements efficiently to meet operational and client requirements
* Oversee daily transport scheduling to ensure vehicles are delivered and collected in a timely manner
* Liaise with internal departments to coordinate vehicle movements between locations
* Register incoming work and monitor the progress of scheduled transport tasks
* Assist with rostering of drivers to match operational demand
* Ensure transport operations are conducted in accordance with WA transport regulations, including fatigue management and Chain of Responsibility requirements
* Schedule and coordinate truck maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications
* Maintain accurate records and reporting relating to vehicle movements and transport activity
Leadership & Operational Structure
This role will manage the day-to-day transport coordination through the New Vehicle Transport Coordinator and the Used Vehicle Transport Coordinator, ensuring vehicle movements are organised and communicated efficiently across departments.
Yard operations will be managed on the ground through our Lead Yard Hand, who oversees vehicle movements and organisation within the yard environment.
The Transport Manager will provide operational support, direction and guidance, ensuring the department operates efficiently and in line with the wider business objectives.
Required Skills & Experience
* Minimum 2 years' experience in transport or logistics, preferably with supervisory responsibilities
* Knowledge of transport regulations, including fatigue management and Chain of Responsibility
* Strong ability to lead, delegate and coordinate team activities
* Current Driver's Licence
* Good knowledge of the Perth metropolitan area
* Strong verbal, written communication and computer skills
