Critical Care Technician | Massachusetts General Hospital - Intensive Care Unit
Assists patients with daily living activities under the supervision of licensed medical professionals. Vital signs, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration measurements are also performed.
Main Responsibilities
1. Takes accurate vital signs, weight, height, intakes, and outputs within required timeframes.
2. Completes all necessary documentation in the patient's medical record.
3. Interacts effectively with patients and their families to provide a positive experience.
4. Assists with basic hygiene tasks, including bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding.
5. Helps patients transfer between bed and wheelchair as needed.
6. Reports patient health concerns to nursing staff.
Education Requirements
A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred. This role does not accept work experience as a substitute for formal education.
Licenses and Certifications
* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is preferred from recognized issuers.
* Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification is preferred from national certifying organizations.
* Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-B) certification is preferred from the Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services.
* Nursing Assistant (LNA) certification is preferred from the Massachusetts Board of Nursing.
Experience
1-2 years of experience in patient care is preferred.
Key Qualities
* Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
* Knowledge of medical terminology.
* Strong customer service skills.
* Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
* Proficient in electronic medical records and computer systems.
