THE ROLE

Reporting to the Emergency Management Communications Manager, the Senior Communications Adviser will deliver integrated communications and media support for the department's emergency management function.

The Senior Communications Adviser is a key member of the Emergency Management team in the Public Engagement Branch and will be supported to work collaboratively with other staff in the branch, to support portfolio priorities and deliver integrated communications support.

When required, and as agreed by the Emergency Management Communications Manager, the incumbent will provide surge support to other areas within the Branch to ensure effective communications services can be delivered during peak periods.

The incumbent will be required to participate in an out-of-hours standby roster for emergency management and, where necessary, be deployed to the State Control Centre or regional Victoria to provide communications and media support in response to emergencies.

ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE

* Provide an account management approach to core service delivery and strategic communications ensuring alignment to broader human service objectives.
* Participate in an out-of-hours standby roster for emergency management and, where necessary, be deployed to the State Control Centre or regional Victoria to provide communications and media support in response to emergencies.
* Support ongoing improvement in relief and recovery communications and coordination, including implementing recommendations from Royal Commissions, investigations and evaluations.
