Position: Conveyor Belt Maintenance Supervisor

Essential Requirements for role:

Three years minimum solid experience with fixed plant maintenance, especially conveyor system maintenance or at least five years' experience in a similar capacity in mining/construction industry

Trade background: Belt Splicer with Certificate III polymer processing, or Mechanical Fitter with Certificate III in Engineering Mechanical trade

Reliable and take pride of the work

Strong ability to lead a small team to work safely and efficiently.

Strong ability to influence and encourage personnel.

Strong ability to resolve conflict within work groups if required.

Strong work ethic and self-motivated

High level of organisational and time management abilities.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Schedule 26 (including modulars BSBWHS411 & BSBWHS414 + pass exam), White Card, Working at Heights, Confined Space

Full Australian Work Rights

Ability to provide a satisfactory National Police Check certificate

Ability to pass a pre-employment medical assessment & DAS

Certificate IV in Leadership and Management

Days, Nights and Weekends Available.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervising the maintenance and repair, replacement works on conveyor belts and critical components carried out by belt splicers and other tradesmen to make sure all the works are completed safely and efficiently and to the required quality standards.

Drive a safety-first work culture that ensures an incident and injury-free work environment.

Identify, assess and control workplace hazards through regular work front inspections.

Act on rectifying and closing out hazards reported by work crew in a timely manner.

Review and approve JHA/SWP/SWMS for conveyor maintenance works to ensure the content is relevant and applicable with appropriate control measures in place and is understood and signed by the work crew.

Conduct regular inspections of tools, plant and equipment to ensure they are defect free and safe to use.

Monitor crew performance, provide positive and constructive feedback to workforce and correct rule breaching and unacceptable behaviours.

Report all incidents and assist with collecting evidence required for incident investigations.

Ensure there are sufficient resources and support for the work crews to complete planned maintenance works safely and efficiently.

Ensure all workers have the required training and competency for the works that they are carrying out.

Prepare detailed daily work plan to ensure maintenance tasks are carried out in an organised and prepared manner.

Prepare and conduct pre-start meetings to communicate all safety messages and work plan to the work crews in a clear and effective way.

Complete shift logs detailing tasks completed and in progress as well as delays and issues encountered during the shift for handing over to next shift and communicating to upper management.

Assist Maintenance Engineer with preparing, reviewing and improvement of detailed safe work instructions (SWI) and safe work procedure (SWP) for major and repetitive conveyor maintenance tasks.
