Role Purpose
The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, commercially robust cost estimates across a diverse range of service and project works. This role plays a key part in supporting service and repair quotations, tender submissions, pricing strategies, and overall business growth by delivering competitive, compliant estimates aligned with company objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for fire services, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing works
- Interpret technical drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and site reports to determine project requirements
- Accurately calculate labour, materials, subcontractor, and equipment costs
- Support the preparation and submission of tenders and pricing proposals
- Liaise with technicians, operations teams, suppliers, and clients to clarify scope, assumptions, and pricing inputs
- Identify value engineering opportunities and recommend cost-effective solutions
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date estimating records within internal systems
- Ensure all estimates align with margin targets and commercial frameworks
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of estimating processes and methodologies
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in estimating within fire services, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or broader building services/construction environments
- Strong ability to interpret technical documentation, drawings, and service scopes
- Solid understanding of labour, material, and project costing structures
- High level of numerical accuracy and strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office applications (desirable)
