The Opportunity
We're seeking a proactive, organised and driven Assistant Development Manager to join our Development team in Melbourne.
In this role, you'll work closely with Development Managers and the Development Director, supporting the end-to-end delivery of multiple high-profile residential and mixed-use projects. From pre-purchase and acquisition through to design development, tender, construction and handover — you will play a pivotal role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to Kokoda's uncompromising standards of quality.
This is an exceptional opportunity for an emerging development professional to gain exposure to complex, multi-level developments while contributing meaningfully to some of Australia's most exciting design-led projects.
About the Role
Project Planning & Design
* Coordinate project documentation, permits and compliance requirements
* Support the Development Team across planning, design, tender, construction and handover
* Assist with project plans, schedules, budgets and feasibility inputs
* Liaise with consultants, authorities, adjoining owners and internal teams
* Conduct site visits to monitor progress, risks and delays
* Manage project documentation including contracts, permits and design material
* Prepare and support planning applications, consultant briefs and required reports
* Curate materials, fixtures, fittings and finishes, and collate information for Contracts of Sale
* Review consultant documentation from a commercial perspective
Tender & Construction
* Assist with tender packages, scopes and builder/consultant coordination
* Support value management and building permit documentation
* Maintain instruction schedules, drawing registers and procurement workflows
* Attend site meetings, take minutes and track budgets, costs and key reporting
* Support contract administration and quality control processes
Administration & Reporting
* Establish and maintain project files, templates and registers
* Prepare project reports including variations, RFIs and EOTs
* Assist with feasibility analysis, program management and budget adherence
About You
You're analytical, driven and energised by the fast pace of development. You understand how design, planning and delivery come together to create projects that exceed expectations.
You'll also bring:
* A degree in Property, Development, Construction, Engineering, Architecture or similar.
* Minimum 2 years' postgraduate experience in development management
* Strong understanding of multi-level and mixed-use developments, with experience coordinating high-end residential or mixed-use projects
* Practical, hands-on skills with the ability to support site reviews, documentation, procurement and day-to-day project coordination
* Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a strong desire to support the team and achieve project outcomes
* Excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, high-change environment
