The Opportunity
Cochlear is looking for a Manager, Product Lifecycle Engineering (PLE) to lead, mentor and manage a team of engineers to sustain Cochlear as the leader in implantable hearing. The role will also manage PLE sustaining projects in collaboration with stakeholders across the organization, including Research & Development, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Process, Procurement and Product Management.
This is a permanent full-time role based in Cochlear’s Global Headquarters in Macquarie University.
Your responsibilities will include…
* Lead and manage a team of Engineers and Project Managers
* Champion the continual development of functional capabilities within the team, including but not limited to, Electronics, Mechanical and Project Management,
* Manage stakeholders across the business to ensure prioritisation and project alignment
* Manage allocation of people to projects to optimally achieve PLE deliverables and meet business priorities
* Guide and mentor team members during execution of their projects and activities
* Attract, develop, and retain the best team to deliver Cochlear’s current and future business objectives
* Manage project budgets and resources to align with priorities and stakeholder/customer requirements.
* Establish and maintain processes within the PLE domain.
* Proactively identify and implement process improvements and new tools that can lead to more efficient delivery
* Develop and maintain strong working knowledge of Cochlear’s products including implants, sound processors, software, accessories, and service
* Collaborate cross functionally to ensure PLE developments integrate with other functions and projects.
About You:
Required Skills:
* Tertiary Qualifications – minimum bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar
* 10 years post-qualification experience in a R&D environment
* Experience in leading a team with diverse skills
* Leading, coaching and developing teams for growth
* Effective communicator in various settings
Desired Skills
* 5+ years team leadership experience
* Strong multi-discipline engineering knowledge; Mechanical, Electronics, Systems and Project Management
* Experience in a highly regulated industry, e.g. medical device, defence
