Technical Delivery Team
responsible for the
National Criminal Intelligence System (NCIS)
— one of Australia's most significant cross-agency digital intelligence initiatives.

NCIS unifies intelligence and policing data from across Australian law enforcement agencies, enabling faster, smarter, and more informed decision-making.
Your work will contribute directly to enhancing national safety, supporting investigations into serious and organised crime, and strengthening Australia's intelligence capability.
What You Will Do
As the Senior Web Developer (React), you will play a key role in designing and delivering user-centric web applications.
Core responsibilities include:
* Developing and enhancing modern front-end interfaces using
React
+
TypeScript
* Converting UI/UX designs into clean, scalable, maintainable code
* Integrating RESTful APIs and collaborating with Java backend engineers
* Optimising application performance across devices and browsers
* Mentoring junior developers and shaping front-end best practices
* Active participation in agile ceremonies, code reviews, and CI/CD processes
* Ensuring quality through Jest and related testing frameworks
Mandatory Skills & Experience
1. React, TypeScript & UI Engineering
* 5+ years in software engineering
* Strong expertise in JavaScript, React, TypeScript, component-based architecture
2. CI/CD, Git & Testing
* Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Jest or equivalent testing frameworks
3. Responsive Design & UX Collaboration
* Deep understanding of performance optimisation and responsive design
* Experience working directly with UI/UX designers
4. Business-to-Technical Translation
* Ability to interpret business requirements and turn them into technical outcomes
5. Stakeholder Engagement
* Clear, confident communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
6. Agile & TDD Experience
* Experience delivering in agile environments
* Proficiency in Git, JIRA, and TDD workflows
Desirable Skills
* Java + Spring Boot
* Large data systems, Elasticsearch/Solr, Kafka, NoSQL
* API integration tools (REST, GraphQL, NiFi, Postgres, Neo4j, IIR)
* Azure
* Linux
* Experience within intelligence or security-focused ICT environments
Security Requirements
You must:
* Hold an
NV1 AGSVA clearance
* Complete an
OSA (Organisational Suitability Assessment)
* Sign confidentiality documentation as required by the ACIC
