About the Role
Due to a strong and growing tender pipeline, Multiplant is seeking a Lead Estimator to join our Perth-based team in West Perth.
This role offers the opportunity to lead and influence the estimating function across a diverse range of civil projects including bulk and detailed earthworks, roads, pipelines, concrete and infrastructure packages supporting tenders typically up to $40M.
You will take ownership of tender strategy, pricing methodology and estimate quality, working closely with leadership, project teams and key stakeholders to ensure estimates are accurate, competitive and deliverable.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating Leadership & Commercial Oversight
* Lead the preparation and review of first principles cost estimates across civil disciplines.
* Set pricing strategies, key assumptions and commercial parameters for tenders.
* Ensure estimates are accurate, consistent, and aligned with delivery capability and risk appetite.
Tender Ownership & Submission Control
* End-to-end ownership of tenders from receipt through to submission.
* Coordinate pricing, documentation and compliance to meet client and submission requirements.
* Manage tender programs and priorities to ensure deadlines are met without compromising quality.
Technical Review, Risk & Opportunity Management
* Review drawings, specifications and contract conditions to identify scope gaps, risks and opportunities.
* Lead the development of RFIs, clarifications and tender departures where required.
* Contribute to value-engineering initiatives and risk allowance strategies.
Stakeholder, Supplier & Team Coordination
* Coordinate inputs from internal stakeholders to ensure alignment between estimate and delivery strategy.
* Engage with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive, compliant pricing.
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants and supply partners.
Tender Handover & Transition to Delivery
* Prepare clear and comprehensive tender handovers outlining pricing logic, assumptions, risks and subcontractor selections.
* Support pre-contracts and project teams during award, early procurement and mobilisation.
* Provide continuity between estimating and delivery to support successful project outcomes.
Skills & Qualifications
* Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
* Strong estimating experience within the Australian civil construction or mining industry
* Proven experience across civil, bulk earthworks, roads, pipelines, concrete, and non-process infrastructure works.
* Proven experience managing successful tenders up to $40 million across varied clients and sectors.
* Solid first-principles estimating capability
* Proficiency in estimating and scheduling software (e.g. Excel, MS Project, HeavyBid, Candy, Expert Estimation, etc.)
* Experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, AGTEK or 12D software, On-Screen Takeoff (or similar) highly desirable.
* A practical, commercial mindset with strong attention to detail
* Ability to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines
