Salary: $89,934 – $116,969 pa plus superannuation and annual leave loading
Working for the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) means partnering with families and communities to support children and young people. The Aboriginal Child Protection Caseworker works alongside families, educating and guiding them toward safe, stable, and culturally connected futures.
Responsibilities
* Work sensitively and respectfully with parents, family members, children or young people
* Collaborate with other agencies and address complex problems
* Walk alongside families to set goals that build on their strengths, addressing safety and well‐being concerns, and provide assistance through home visits
* Develop safety plans and complete risk assessments
* Manage cases and situations, including working with high‐needs and high‐risk clients and their families
* Participate in court processes, including preparation of documents and court appearances
* Attend individual and group supervision sessions
* Engage in Aboriginal cultural supervision
Qualifications
* Relevant diploma or degree preferred
* At least two years of experience working with vulnerable children, young people and their families if lacking a relevant qualification
* Ability to build strong positive relationships with the Aboriginal community and excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Valid driver's licence
* Paid working with children clearance number
* Documentation confirming Aboriginality: proof of Aboriginal descent and personal identification as Aboriginal
