The Men's Table is an ACNC registered national not-for-profit that brings men together in local communities across Australia to share, connect and support each other over time. The Table Program provides a simple, peer-led structure that fosters trust, self-reflection, healthy masculinity and long-term wellbeing.
We are seeking a Financial Controller to oversee the financial operations of the organisation, uphold strong governance and provide high-quality financial reporting and advice to support sustainable growth.
Purpose of the role
The Financial Controller manages all aspects of financial planning, reporting, budgeting and compliance. The role ensures the organisation maintains financial integrity, meets all regulatory obligations and receives the financial insight needed for sound strategic decision-making by the CEO and Board.
Key responsibilities
Financial reporting and analysis
* Prepare and present monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
* Provide variance analysis against budgets and forecasts
* Develop financial models to support planning and sustainability
Budgeting and forecasting
* Lead the annual budgeting process with key stakeholders
* Maintain up-to-date forecasts aligned to operational and funding needs
Financial operations and controls
* Oversee general ledger operations, including payables, receivables and payroll (where applicable)
* Demonstrate proficiency with major accounting software platforms
* Maintain robust financial controls and data integrity
* Manage cash flow and banking relationships
Compliance and audit
* Coordinate the annual external audit process
* Ensure compliance with tax and statutory reporting (ACNC, ATO and related obligations)
Strategic financial advice
* Provide financial insights and recommendations to the CEO and Board
* Support revenue and funding processes by ensuring initiatives and new deals are correctly set up and tracked financially
* Advise on operational efficiency, cost management and resource planning
Measures of success
* Financial reports delivered accurately and on time
* Annual audit completed with no significant findings
* Annual budget developed, approved and adhered to, with variances clearly explained
What you bring
* CPA or CA qualified (or equivalent), with deep experience in financial management and controls
* Experience in the NFP sector preferred, though not essential
* Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail
* Structured, outcome-focused and comfortable owning deadlines and compliance requirements
* Ability to communicate clearly with financial and non-financial stakeholders
* Values alignment with The Men's Table and comfort working collaboratively across a small team
You will join and play a central role supporting a growing national team, contributing to a dynamic, human-centred organisational culture
Tenure and Reporting
Reporting to the CEO, this is a part time two day per week role. Remote applications can be considered.
Australian work authorisation is required for this position.
